A rabbit punch is a blow to the neck or to the base of the skull. It is considered especially dangerous because it can damage the cervical vertebrae and subsequently the spinal cord, which may lead to serious spinal cord injury or even death.

Toward the end of 1983, Shields and O'Ciosoig formed their own band with singer Dave Conway. Conway suggested names such as "Burning Peacocks" before they settled on "My Bloody Valentine" after a 1981 Canadian slasher film of the same name.
